MMGS OSA 2025 NATIONAL ELECTIONS GUIDELINES

Introduction

The MMGS-OSA has scheduled a landmark Re-Union event for February 2025. A key feature of this event is the conduct of a free, fair, inclusive and credible election which put into office, a new Executive Committee, to lead  the association's affairs for another term.

The Election Committee and its Mandate.

    The Organizing Committee, in exercise of its powers, has also established an Election sub committee to manage the electoral process.

I would like to express my  gratitude on behalf of the election sub committee to the national exco and 2025 election & reunion committee for counting us worthy to serve in this sub committee.

Quite obvious that we have limited time hence using this opportunity to seek for the cooperation of everyone.

Terms of reference

a) Mobilisation-  utilize the national platform, and set group platforms to promote the program. 
b) Conduct Election according to the constitution of MMGS. 
c) Ensure online conduct of the election and get the result ready two weeks before the reunion.
d) Ensure nominees are agreed upon and enhance massive participation. 
e) The present national president will remain our President Emeritus and adviser as a mark of honor for his activities and leadership roles.

Who can vote

All MMGS OSA members are eligible to vote.

Voting system - Online
 voting.

Eligibility criteria for contestants

* All contestants must be active/financial members of the association. The 'activeness ' and financial membership status of a contestant will be confirmed through the leadership/executive of his/her set?

* Members of the Election sub committee are not eligible to contest for any position.

Manifesto

All contestants should write and send their manifestos to the electoral committee.

Presidential aspirants to write comprehensive address/manifesto on what they have in stock for the association. 

Timeliness of the electoral process

* Nomination to be done online
* Opening of nomination - 22nd of January 2025
* Submission of completed nomination form - on or before 29th of January 2025
* Scrutiny of forms/announcement of contestants - 30th of January 2025
* Campaign period - 22nd of January to 31st of January 2025
* Election days -  1st, 2nd  &  3rd of February, 2025
* Announcement of results - 3rd of February, 2025
* Queries & Responses - 4th  & 5th of February 2025.
* Online issuance of certificates of returns - 6th of February 2025.
* Submission of list of new exco members/report to the outgoing exco- 7th of February 2025.

Members of MMGS OSA who are interested in contesting are encouraged to fill nomination forms,  and return online to the chairman of the electoral sub committee latest 29th of January 2025.

Nomination form and app for voting to be posted as soon as possible. Presidents of class sets are admonished to help post information concerning the elections on their class platforms.
